COVID-19 Clinic Protocols (FIRST PHASE: May 2020)

As exciting but uncertain as this time is, we are at the beginning of our road back to

We’ve missed you!  Thank you for your patience while our office is closed.  Since March 16th, the Ministry of Health as well as our own College of Pedorthics of Canada has instructed that we be closed.  Both our Ottawa and Vancouver locations are complying fully to protect the health and well-being of our patients, team members, and the broader communities that we operate in and up until now, only Telehealth appointments have been possible.  Our clinics will remain closed until we have the green light from our province to resume our operations.

Beginning Tuesday, May 19, we are happy to announce that SOLEFIT VANCOUVER has been given the green-light to resume as BC enters the first phase of re-opening.  Hopefully SoleFit Ottawa will join shortly and we will update this post as we learn more.

We look forward to welcoming back patients, old and new, to our clinic, but understand that you have a lot of questions.  COVID-19 has certainly caused much uncertainty and confusion around proper reopening conditions and everyone will have their own comfort levels.  At SoleFit, our number one priority is the safety of our patients and employees, and as such, we will have specific measures in place as we work through the phases of re-entry.   We expect these to be modified as provincial recommendations change and restrictions ease up.  At this time we are outlining our procedures for the FIRST PHASE of re-opening.

Clinic hours and the number of practitioners available will be limited to maintain social distancing requirements (one patient and one pedorthist).

Patients are asked to use on-line booking to schedule their appointments.  Telehealth and limited in-clinic appointments will be available at this time.

At this time, we will not be able to accommodate walk-in appointments of any type.

Priority will be given to existing and urgent patients.

In-clinic waiting room seating will not be available at this time.  Please arrive NO MORE THAN 5 minutes prior to your appointment to give us adequate time to clean between patients.

Sample items will not be on display during this phase.

We do not recommend use of the shared building washroom unless absolutely necessary.  While cleaning has been increased by the superintendent, we can not control who has access during the day and thus cannot guarantee it’s cleanliness.

PLEASE NOTE:  Reception hours will be extremely limited during this phase.  Please contact us at (Ottawa location) or (Vancouver location) for any questions about our services or our bookings.

Pedorthists must wear masks, gloves, and personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times in the clinic when seeing patients.

Patients must wear a mask at all times in the clinic.  You can bring your own or disposable masks will be available in the clinic for a small fee.

You will be asked to sign an intake form indicating that you are in good health and have not travelled outside of Canada within the previous 14 days.  Patients who can not sign off on the form will be asked to e-mail us to reschedule your appointment.  At this time we will be waiving our normal cancellation policy to encourage patients to cancel if they are not feeling well.

We will be conducting enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols as per Public Health and the Pedorthic Association of Canada’s Covid-19 guidelines.

Hand sanitizer will be available for use in the clinic at all times.

We will not be accepting cash for phase one.  Tap, e-transfer, or online payment options will be available.

Please complete the on-line intake and/or questionnaire forms prior to your appointment.  These will be available to you via e-mail once you have booked your appointment through our on-line booking system.

If your appointment will be Telehealth, please test your computer set-up prior to your appointment.  Your reminder e-mail will have details about how to do this.

Please arrive at your appointment NO MORE THAN 5 minutes early as you will not be permitted to enter until your scheduled appointment time.  A sign at our door will ask you to wait to enter until we call you in for your appointment.

Please bring shorts, shoes, and any other items necessary for your appointment as we will not have spare items to loan due to safety concerns.

As exciting but uncertain as this time is, we are at the beginning of our road back to a new normal.  We hope that the above measures reassure you that we are taking every step to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff when we welcome you back to our clinic.  Please let us know via e-mail if you have any specific concerns that have not been addressed.  We would be happy to provide more detail or provide alternate options for you. Thank you for choosing SoleFit and we look forward to helping you!
