Tissue Flossing: Therapy at Home

At SoleFit, we are always looking for new health care products that are effective and easy to use.

At SoleFit, we are always looking for new health care products that are effective and easy to use.  A few months ago, we came across floss bands that are starting to be used by therapists in the US (and were creating quite a lot of buzz) and decided to give them a closer look .  After ordering a few samples in for our team to try, we were amazed at how well they worked!

How they work:  Floss bands are wrapped tightly around injured tissue or joints and once the band is wrapped, the tissue/joint is worked through a range of motion.  After a minute or so of movement is completed (albeit a rather uncomfortable minute), the band is released and a sudden rush of returning blood flow moves into the area.   To summarize the benefits:

  • Extreme compression can help to force swelling out of tissues and joints.
  • The compression combined with range of motion work can help to ‘unstick’ tissues (similar to the premise behind ART).
  • Perfusion of blood to the area after the floss is removed can help to promote healing.

In our own tests, we found pretty substantial increases in mobility after just a few minutes of using the floss bands on knees, ankles, wrists, elbows, and shoulders.  Certainly another home care tool that can help to improve stubborn tissue/joint tension and acute or chronically damaged tissues.  SoleFit is excited to be carrying these bands in stock.
