Floss bands are used to treat injury and increase mobility.
Floss bands are wrapped tightly around injured tissue or joints and once the band is wrapped, the tissue/joint is worked through a range of motion. After a minute or so of movement is completed (albeit a rather uncomfortable minute), the band is released and a sudden rush of returning blood flow moves into the area. To summarize the benefits:
(1) Extreme compression can help to force swelling out of tissues and joints.
(2) The compression combined with range of motion work can help to ‘unstick’ tissues (similar to the premise behind ART).
(3) Perfusion of blood to the area after the floss is removed can help to promote healing.
