The third instalment of our Running Without Boundaries series, ‘The Limitless and Limiting Mind’, took place last weekend at the Museum of Nature in downtown Ottawa. With a capacity crowd supporting impossible2Possible, we managed to raise over $7000 for Ray Zahab’s amazing organization supporting young people and causes around the globe.
Emceed by local author and radio personality, Mark Sutcliffe, the evening began with a presentation by Dr. Greg Wells, physiologist and on-air personality for CTV’s Olympic coverage. Dr. Wells brought a unique, behind the scenes perspective to the audience by telling anecdotes of his time with some of Canada’s top athletes. Up next was world renowned sport psychologist and professor at The University of Ottawa, Dr. Terry Orlick, who shared some insight on how anyone can achieve the ‘pursuit of excellence’ by following simple tips of goal setting, focus, and being driven to succeed. Rounding out the evening was, of course, Ray Zahab who was fresh off an expedition crossing the Gobi Desert. As always, Ray regaled us with his stories of overcoming immense odds to succeed, making anything possible. He also premiered a fascinating short video clip of the Gobi expedition. A Q and A with all of our presenters finished off a truly inspiring evening.
The SoleFit team would like to thank all of our presenters and emcee for taking the time out of their busy schedules to speak at our event. We also would like to thank all of the attendees who purchased tickets in order to benefit impossible2Possible. Without your support, we would not be able to put on events of such a high caliber. Finally, we would like to thank all of the retail stores, clinics, and supporters of SoleFit for putting the word out there about this event, and helping us achieve a sell out crowd!
We are already looking toward our next event and welcome feedback and/or suggestions for how to top the ‘Limitless and Limiting Mind’ (for those in attendance, a survey for the event can be found here). Email or call us anytime, and we hope to see you at the next Running Without Boundaries!
